Chaberier

about

A funny thing happens when someone asks you “Do you play an instrument?” and you answer “Yes, a synthesizer!”, you are often met with an expression that suggests that is not the answer they hoped for. As a lifelong fan of synthesizers, I always found this a bit bewildering as these instruments not only can create so many wonderful sounds, you can compose with them in so many ways.

In light of this, I decided to compose this duet-style sonata between a grand piano ( UVI Model D) and an emulation of the 1983 Yamaha DX1 synthesizer ( UVI FMX1) played in the most traditional of ways.

As for the inspiration for this piece? Well, it's all in the name "Chaberier", my wife. When you can't put into words what you feel, that is where music comes in.
