In The Company Of Machines

about

This track is a bit more of a freestyle synth jam compared to many of my music tracks. In the past, I had been very intrigued by the Prophet VS synthesizer and though I tried to use it in past projects, it was often swapped out for another synth later in the mixes. It never quite lived up to the hype it was as a hardware synth in its VST form; perhaps something got lost in translation.

Recently Arturia updated the Prophet VS VST and it is significantly better. After many nights exploring this synth, it became the inspiration behind this whole track, kicking things off solo.

The sequence was built with the Korg MS-20 a machine I had never previously explored. I now understand why people love this synth.

Beyond that, the Rhizomatic Plasmonic, which has finally replaced its older brother “Absynth” as one of my favorite digital synthesizers, leads the back half of the score.

Synths used in this score:

Arturia Pigments 4
Arturia SQ-80
Arturia Mini Freak V
Arturia Prophet VS
Korg MS-20
Cherry Audio Quadra
Rhizomatic Plasmonic
UVI Bit Zone
